Hi, my name is Ryan Armishaw, and I am the owner of The Laughable News. I currently live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my wife and two kids.
My interests are many and varied. They include things such as back-country hiking/camping, bee keeping (none yet, but I do love bees), making my own beer, and reading adventure travel. I have an insatiable case of 'wanderlust', and I long to backpack around the world. It is my hope that one day I will be able to strap my laptop to a backpack, and manage The Laughable News as I wander from city to city.
During my life, I have held a wide assortment of jobs including everything from Pizza boy to Commercial Pilot to the owner of a Coffee Roasting company. Oddly enough, that eclectic assortment of jobs actually lead me down the path to The Laughable News.
Throughout my aviation career I was fortunate enough to do and see many interesting things. I was able to fly small planes into fishing lodges, take tourists on aeriel tours over the majestic glaciers in the Yukon, and even fly as far North as the Arctic Ocean. I flew aircraft such as the Cessna 172, Piper Navajo, and Beechcraft King Air. I logged over 3000 hours during my career. But, in the end, I decided to walk away from aviation and start my own business.
My first business was a Coffee Roasting company. My wife and I started it because she was a fanatic about coffee, and we both loved the culture that surrounds coffee beans. We created some of the best coffees I've ever tasted (Of course, I may be slightly biased). Our two favourites were a flowery Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and a dark roasted Bolivian. (I'm drooling as I write this). To this day, I have never tasted a better cup of coffee.
So, you may be wondering how on earth a coffee company becomes a newsletter company. Well, this is the point in the story where my personal history mixes with how The Laughable News came to be. So, if you are interested,
