What should I charge for ads?

What to charge for an ad is something that you'll need to figure out as there is no 'correct' answer.  Your area will be unique and you'll need to determine what the market can bear.

If I sell ads for X dollars in Kansas, would it still be a good idea in New York? Doubtful. Why? Because the markets are different. Cost of living is different.

So, what is a good starting point? Well, start with the idea of:

  • Ad Size "A" - $25.00/week
  • Ad Size "B" - $50.00/week
  • Ad Size "C" - $75.00/week

If your competition seems to be using a higher ad price, then start a little higher.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot by trying to offer "Rock-Bottom" prices. A better idea would be to start high, and offer deals on larger sizes, or longer periods.  If you start too low, it is hard to raise your prices. You won't have any room to manoeuvre.
