Should I charge to design ads?

Ah, yes, this is a hard one. Do you try to entice people to buy ads by offering FREE designs and changes? Or do you charge for your valuable time, and risk not selling the ad?

What is the right answer? There isn't one. It is a matter of what makes you comfortable.

I've always felt that an ad design fee should exist...let's say $25/ad. BUT, you will waive that fee if people sign up for a minimum period of, say, 6 months. If they only want a month, they pay the $25.

Revisions: if you offer free revisions, your customers may be calling you every week for changes. That is going to eat up a lot of time. And, you won't be earning any extra income. What is the answer? I like offering one small revision per month free of charge. That would include changing text for promotion, or adding some new lines. If they want a complete ad overhaul, I would charge the $25. If they want to make more than one change per month, I would charge $10.00 per event.

Are these ideas right for you? Maybe, maybe not. If you come up with a good system that others will benefit from, then post it in the forum. We may add it to the FAQ.
