Has anyone had any experience with paying commissions for ad sales? If so, what has worked?

I was waiting to see if anyone else would jump in, but it doesn't look like it...

Someone down in Duval county , Florida is searching for Sales people through Craigslist. You can see their ad here: jacksonville.craigslist.org/sls/1351360952.html Looks like they're offering 30%. Seems like a fair offer.

I definitely think commission sales is the way to go. It frees you up to manage the business, and it'll let you expand quickly. You can have 100% of the sales in one area, or 70% of the sales in 10 areas...you do the math It just makes sense!

Anyway, I'll email the guy in Duval to see how the response has been. Hopefully, he'll post it in the forum.

I ran the add in Craig's List that Ryan published above in the forum section and have had several people inquire about the position in Duval County in Florida. I hope to have several people selling the advertising while I develop the territory. I am hoping to launch our first newsletter in October.

I decided to set up the sales team as 1099 reps with a 30% payout on all sales. So far I have one person who has verbally committed to start.

I am also offering the same payout to my networking group; Without having them commit to a full time sales position; plus I am offering a referral fee for anyone wishing to advertising that they refer.

I am curious, are you offering all ad sizes in your newsletter or are you staying with one size?

I am selling each spot individually as one size; but giving the client the option to buy as many spots as he/she desires. So technically, the client can buy a double or triple the original size if they choose. I hope that answered your question.
